Spur ISD Parents, and Students:
I hope this finds you well. You have some awesome Spur ISD staff members (principals, teachers, and auxiliary workers) that are working very hard to try and make this transition to distance learning as seamless as possible. We have looked at many platforms to get this information to you. The process will continue to evolve and if this becomes a long term situation there will be many changes along the way as we find what works best for our students and staff. Elementary and Junior High students will receive their work through paper based learning packets for the time being and high school students will have both learning packets and google classroom. Many of our teachers already utilized Google Classroom before the closure. This platform is easily accessible and can also be downloaded on a cell phone through your app store or computer. If your student does not have access to internet at the this time we are working to set up locations your child can have access. Please let us know if this is a problem for your student. Many of you replied to our survey and we thank you for doing so. If you did not fill out the form sent out last week in is located on the Spur ISD Facebook page and at www.spurbulldogs.com
Wednesday 3-25-2020 from 1-6pm you will be able to pick up packets in front of the elementary. You do not have get out of your car. Just pull up and tell us what student information you need and we will get it to you. If you cannot be here to pick it up we will start delivering the packets to your house around 8:00am on Thursday. If your student needs their computer or anything else from the school since we are just coming off spring break they will be allowed to retrieve it at that time. If your child can not be here at that time please make arrangements with your campus principal to get what your child needs at a later date.
Our cafeteria staff has been awesome and worked to get meals prepared for your students. As of this time we are providing meals to be picked up from 11:00am till 1:00pm. This time will possibly change once we figure out when the majority of the meals are picked up in an effort to keep our staff safe and limit their exposure.
Parents we know this is a very stressful situation and we do not expect you fully take on the responsibility of teaching your children. If your child needs help please reach out to their teachers. We are here for you!!! We must continue to educate our children and although the situation is not ideal, I have the upmost confidence that we can get this accomplished together! Please let us know if you are having any issue and we will do our absolute best to remedy the issue. We know this will be a difficult transition for everyone involved and patience will have to extended by all of us. Please make sure your child is working on their school work. We will be collecting work on week by week basis so that we have some accountability of the work that is being done. The dates and times for future pick up and drop off of the learning packets will be addressed in the information in the packets.
We will continue to send out updates through the Spur ISD App, the website www.spurbulldogs.com, Spur ISD Facebook and all call system. The phone numbers being called are the numbers you gave us in the registration packets at the beginning of the year. If you are not receiving the text or calls please call your childs campus and leave a message if your number has changed.
My last request is that you please love on your kids for us. Let them know that we love them and can't wait to have them back. I am blessed beyond measure to be a part of this great community and we will get though this together.
Thank you and God bless each of you,
Craig Hamilton
